Melania Trump will stick by former President Donald Trump as he is indicted again, this time on charges he mishandled classified documents and obstructed justice in returning them to the National Archives, while his daughter Ivanka Trump has "disappeared" from his life, sources say.
“She is used to this,” one source close to the family said of Melania Trump. “They are used to dealing with this stuff.”
Another source said, “Melania is standing by her husband, but quietly and privately. He’s been on the phone with Melania, who’s supporting him 100 percent. They both knew this — and more — was coming.”
The couple is "more bonded than ever," according to yet another source, and Melania Trump is ready to be first lady again if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential race.
When the news of the new indictment broke, Melania was on the East Coast visiting her mother in an apartment Melania designed and furnished for her.
She then headed back to Trump Tower to meet up with Trump, and they then planned to go to Mar-A-Lago from there.
Trump is supposed to appear at a Miami courthouse Tuesday afternoon to face the charges. It is unclear what will happen to him at that point, and Melania will not be present at the arraignment.
If he is convicted on all charges, he faces up to 75 years in prison. At age 76, that would be more than a life sentence for him.
As opposed to Melania's support, Ivanka Trump has pulled back from her father.
She exited politics ahead of her father's run for a second term in 2024.
When Trump was indicted in March, she said, “I love my father and I love my country. Today, I am pained for both. I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern.”
“Ivanka lost a lot of friends and her social scenes during his presidency… They want to put it in the rearview. They want it behind them," another source said of Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner.
When Trump got news that the indictment was imminent, he broke that news to the media himself, watching on multiple screens in his Bedminster Club as they covered his Truth Socal post breaking the story.
Trump lawyer James Trusty called this second indictment "crossing the Rubicon" and "history-making." President Joe Biden also had classified documents in several locations, and is also being investigated, but has not been charged.
