The suspect in the shooting of two West Virginia National Guardsmen in Washington on Wednesday, the latest unprovoked terror attack on the U.S., allegedly had gone through a "thorough screening and background check" process.

That's according to a statement of Joe Biden's press secretary, Jen Psaki, at the time thousands of Afghans were being brought into the United States by the Democrat administration then.

At the time, Psaki was questioned about the possibility of terrorists being delivered to U.S. shores by Biden's Operation Allies, which was supposed to have been evacuating and resettling U.S. "allies" from Afghanistan, after the U.S. abruptly withdrew its troops of that location.

Psaki said: "I can absolutely assure you that no one is coming into the United States of America who has not been through a thorough screening and background check process."

She continued, "There are many individuals as you noted who have not been through that process. And they have gone to lilypad countries, as that process has been completed. It doesn't mean that there's a flag, it means they have not completed their paperwork."

The suspect has been identified by authorities as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who allegedly drove across the country in preparation for his "ambush" attack on Guardsmen Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24.

Both were hospitalized and described initially as in critical condition.

The suspect, also shot, had lesser injuries, reports confirmed.

Charges against him could include assault with intent to kill while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.

Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, said, "We are praying that they survive and that the highest charge will not have to be murder in the first degree. But make no mistake, if they do not, that will certainly be the charge."

President Trump has strategically dispatched Guard troops to fight what has been described as out-of-control crime in key locations, a program that so far often has resulted in a significant drop in crime rates in those locations.
