Guatamalan mother arrested in Kentucky for selling baby for $2000

A mother has been arrested for allegedly selling her baby to another couple in Bowling Green, Kentucky, police said Tuesday. The couple, Pascual Jose Manuel and Catarina Jose Felipe, were also arrested for the felony crime of selling and purchasing a child for adoption.

While many news outlets only identified the woman as a “Kentucky mother,” Breitbart confirmed the mother, Maria Domingo-Perez, 31, is an illegal immigrant from Guatemala.

Woman, couple arrested for selling child

In a press release, The Bowling Green Police Department said they received a tip from an elementary school that Domingo-Perez had given away one of her children.

After making conflicting statements, Domingo-Perez eventually admitted that she gave away the child to the other couple. Manual and Felipe told police that they paid $2,000 for the baby.

ABC News reported that the school had already been concerned about the welfare of her children. The woman’s other four children, along with the baby, have all been taken into protective custody by the state.

Domingo-Perez, Manuel, and Felipe are all in custody at the Warren County Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond each.

ICE files detainers

A law enforcement official told Breitbart that Domingo-Perez is a Guatemalan national who illegally entered the U.S. via the southwest border with Mexico in 2018.

In an apparent example of the so-called “catch-and-release” policy in action, WBKO also reported¬†that “U.S. Immigration officials said they had previously encountered Domingo-Perez Sept. 8, 2018, at the Southwest border and placed her in immigration proceedings.”

It remains unclear if her children crossed the border with her or came across on their own as Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC).

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) filed immigration detainers on all three people on Tuesday, according to jail records.

As part of his campaign platform, President Donald Trump promised to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and fix the burgeoning illegal immigration crisis by building and strengthening the border wall and fixing U.S. immigration policy.

However, the Democrat-controlled House, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), has set itself in complete opposition to the Trump administration’s agenda, slowing progress. Pelosi claims she cares about border security — but her actions don’t bear out her words.
