Willie Nelson surprises conservative fans by throwing support behind Beto O’Rourke

The liberal wave runs long and deep in the entertainment world and Willie Nelson is among those that have been swept up in it.

As such, country star Willie Nelson stunned his largely blue-collar audience by throwing his full support behind Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke, saying, “Anything he wants to do, I’m with Beto.”

Turning Texas Blue

Texas has long been a red state but in a very unconventional way. The general consensus in the state is that liberals show up for local elections and conservatives come out in force for federal elections.

That narrative is proven when you look throughout the state and see Democrat mayor after Democrat mayor in virtually every major city.

However, the state usually turns out Republican senators and Republican representatives more often than not, save a few blue districts that continue to put worthless individuals like Al Green in office.

That trend almost changed in the last Senate election, however, when Ted Cruz barely beat Beto O’Rourke. Willie Nelson was given significant credit for the close call.

Nelson hit the campaign trail hard for O’Rourke, and turned the nobody into a somebody.

What Do Stars Really Mean?

The celebrity endorsement has taken on a new level of importance over the last few years.

There are a lot of mixed feelings about how effective they are really are, though.

When you look at the protests and declarations made by Hollywood during the 2016 election and the fact Trump still won, do they really hold any weight?

Robert DeNiro practically lost his mind during the 2016 election, so we tend to lean towards the fact that in most cases, celebrity endorsements are not really very influential.

Nelson, a native Texan, though, seems to be the exception to the rule.

That is something to keep in mind if you are a conservative and a Willie fan because that $100 you just spent on a ticket has a very good chance of ending up in Beto’s campaign fund.
