Like numerous other left-leaning Hollywood celebrities, ABC’s “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg hinted in 2016 that she might move out of the country if then-candidate Donald Trump were to be elected president.
Of course, after Trump won the 2016 election, she didn’t follow through. One audience member stood up and confronted Goldberg on why she hadn’t left the United States yet, given her staunch opposition to the Trump administration.
“Why haven’t you moved?”
Following the taping of a recent episode of “The View,” Harry Cherry, a member of the audience, shouted out the question as Goldberg and co-host Sunny Hostin stood on stage.
“Whoopi, you said when President Trump was elected you would move out of the United States … why haven’t you moved out of the United States?” he shouted.
Though no audible answer was heard from Goldberg, it was obvious that she did utter a reply while motioning her interlocutor to be quiet.
Cherry, a self-declared “conservative investigative journalist,” posted the resultant video to Twitter.

“Maybe it’s time for me to move”
In January 2016, Goldberg suggested during an episode of “The View” that she might leave the U.S. if Trump were to be elected.
Citing Trump’s tough stance on illegal immigration, which she deemed racist and xenophobic, Goldberg said, “I don’t think that’s America. I don’t want it to be America.”
“Maybe it’s time for me to move, you know,” she suggested.
Co-host Joy Behar pleaded with Goldberg to not say such things, but Goldberg replied that it was fine and she could “afford” to move out of the country if necessary.
Several other major celebrities, including rapper Snoop Dog, pop star Miley Cyrus, and actor Samuel Jackson, vowed to flee the country if Trump gained the presidency.
Few actually followed through on their promises … much to the dismay of conservatives who were ready to wave goodbye. It seems that living under a Trump presidency isn’t so bad after all.
