The White House is now walking back President Joe Biden's claim that he saw photographic evidence that Hamas terrorists have beheaded children, according to NBC News

The latest reports indicate that Hamas has killed over 1,300 Israeli people in its attack on Israel. Thousands more have been injured.

Violence of this kind is never pretty. But, what has really caught the attention of many are reports of the especially horrifying manner in which Hamas has gone about its attack.

The New York Post, for example, citing many sources, has reported:

Hamas terrorists slaughtered at least 40 babies and young children — decapitating some of them — at a kibbutz near the Gaza border, shaken Israeli officials and reporters at the scene said Tuesday.

Biden claims that he has seen the evidence

President Biden, earlier this week, claimed that he, first-hand, has seen photographic evidence of the atrocities perpetrated by Hamas, the same ones detailed in the Post's report.

Biden made the comment at a roundtable event that he participated in on Wednesday with Jewish leaders.

The overall goal of the event was to show America's support of and solidarity with the Israel people as it faces off against Hamas. Biden made various remarks to this effect.

At one point, the president said, "It matters that Americans see what’s happening. I mean, I’ve been doing this for a long time. I never really thought that I would see confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children."

Now, however, there are questions about whether Biden actually did see such "confirmed pictures."

The White House walk back

Not long after Biden made the above remark, the White House decided that it was necessary to walk it back.

The Washington Post reported:

A White House spokesperson later clarified that US officials and the president have not seen pictures or confirmed such reports independently. The president based his comments about the alleged atrocities on the claims from Netanyahu’s spokesman and media reports from Israel, according to the White House.

The New York Post, in a separate report, details the various sources that have claimed that Hamas terrorists have, indeed, beheaded children and even babies.

Israeli Maj. Gen. Itai Veruv, for example, said:

You see the babies, the mothers, the fathers, in their bedrooms, in their protection rooms and how the terrorist kills them. It’s not a war, it’s not a battlefield. It’s a massacre, it’s a terror activity.

What exactly Biden has seen, however, remains unclear.
