White House appears to crop VP Harris out of video during recent event

Speculation has abounded in recent weeks regarding a supposed rift between President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

A recent video that cropped Harris out of the feed has fueled new rumors that the vice president has fallen out of favor with the president’s team.

Harris popularity continues downward trend

Although Harris was on hand for the event on Monday, some critics noted that the White House seems to want to keep her out of the public eye as much as possible.

Harris has arguably been a liability for the Biden administration as her approval rating hovers even lower than the president’s plummeting poll numbers.

In fact, recent reports show that she has claimed the inauspicious title of least popular vice president in recent history.

Biden seemed reluctant to give Harris a prominent or influential post within his administration and when he ultimately put her in charge of addressing illegal immigration, the decision appeared to blow up in his face.

Her trip to South America earlier this year was her first such assignment and it failed by virtually every metric available. Not only did it lead to no tangible accomplishment, but Republicans were able to derive significant political mileage out of the debacle.

Vice president faces uncertain political future

In the subsequent months, Harris saw her public visibility as vice president diminish significantly.

That trend has led to scuttlebutt across D.C. and beyond regarding whether her exclusion from this week’s video was accidental or by design. White House cameras zoomed in on Biden and White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci to his left, remaining focused on the pair during the entire conference without showing Harris to the president’s right.

Of course, it is unlikely that the Biden administration will be able to keep Harris hidden for the remainder of the current term.

Although Biden has signaled his intention to seek re-election, his party could face a serious decision if he ultimately opts against another White House bid.

Democrats have largely lost faith in the vice president and there is growing pressure for the president to cut ties with her prior to the 2024 presidential election.
