The anti-Trump rumor mill has been working overtime recently. Last week, it churned out unfounded allegations of sexual harassment against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
This week, it’s the whistleblower who broke the story about Trump allegedly pressuring Ukraine for dirt on Joe Biden. Now, it turns out this new story is just more fake news.
No Direct Knowledge
The whistleblower broke the story that Trump wanted Ukraine’s head of state to investigate Hunter Biden, the son of Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Now it has been reported that the whistleblower “didn’t have direct knowledge of the communications” that occurred, according to Breitbart.
The whistleblower instead learned this information through channels other than his work, which removes him from protection by whistleblower laws.
But more importantly, it raises questions about the whistleblower’s credibility. He didn’t know what was said; he had simply learned details and other things through word of mouth.
Essentially, that makes the accusations nothing more than hearsay from a federal agency staffed with people hostile to Trump. The president would point to situations exactly like this to demonstrate the power of the deep state.
This calls back memories of leaks constantly coming out of the White House during the early days of Trump’s presidency.
Anonymous officials were saying things that ultimately couldn’t be corroborated or proven. It was a veritable flood of hearsay, just like this latest story.
The partisan media is eager to attack the president and will push any story if it can hurt him.
The Kavanaugh accusations and subsequent correction really make it clear we need better means of recourse for individuals.
The media has slandered an innocent man with terrible allegations knowing that the story was false. Now it is going after the president based on complete unfounded hearsay. Something needs to be done.
