A wave of Democrat retirements is putting a serious handicap on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) plans to retain control of the House of Representatives this year.

A stunning 32 Democrats have made the decision to retire ahead of the 2022 midterm elections that are expected to be a bloodbath in favor of Republicans after years of flailing under President Joe Biden’s leadership.

Many Democrats have seen the writing on the wall and chose to get out now instead of trying out slim chances to win re-election.

Democrats are doomed

Democrats don’t have a large margin for error as the House is already split 220-208 with 7 vacancies.

A 12-seat gap is far from comfortable especially when it comes to pushing a radical leftist agenda. Democrats have struggled for the most part to get their agenda through the House despite their majority.

Now considering that a massive 32 Democrats have chosen to step away once their terms conclude, the 12-seat gap is an absolute nightmare.

What’s worse for Democrats is with the likely impending defeat in November, Pelosi’s long political career may come to an end as rumors are swirling that she will retire.

An article published by the Atlantic read, “Sometime in the not-so-distant future, probably after next year’s midterm elections, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will announce that she’s stepping down. Her top deputies… aspire to her job, but they’re also in their early 80s, and most Democrats in and out of Congress are counting on them to step aside too. Of course, they all have stock responses denying that anyone is ever going anywhere, but the day is coming.”

Pelosi and many of the old guard in the Democrat Party may finally be on their way out if things go as badly as expected.

Good riddance

For many Americans, seeing Nancy Pelosi forced into retirement is a moment that has been years in the making.

Pelosi has created a major rift in the Democrat Party in-between her and the younger more progressive Democrats like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Not only do progressives want to see Pelosi gone, but the American people as a whole are done with her. Pelosi has a knack for elitist gaffes that have destroyed any goodwill she may have had with the American people.
