When Joe Biden, at a news conference, called on a member of Congress who had died, it was startling. When he told a supporter, confined to a wheelchair, to stand up, it could have been concerning.

There might even have been times when it was amusing when Biden simply lost his train of thought and dropped a word, a name, or something else.

But now it's "alarming."

That's according to the New York Post, one publication among many reporting now on Biden's lapse in which he forgot the name of Hamas, the terrorist organization from Gaza that invaded Israel and butchered 1,200 civilians in October.

The Post explained that Biden "sparked fresh alarm" with his blunder.

"The oldest-ever U.S. president was asked a question Tuesday about the ongoing hostage negotiations between the terrorist group and Israel, after delivering a speech promoting the new border security bill."

Biden said, "There is some movement, and I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna …"

Biden, 81, then stared blankly.

"Let me choose my words — there’s some movement, there’s been … a response from the, uh…"

Again, the lost look.

"There’s been a response … from … the opposition, but, um —"

Then he suddenly looked up to his left and got the hint.

"Yes, I’m sorry, from Hamas."

Democrats were among those stunned.

"I admire our president. I voted for him and campaigned for him. He has visited my home and been gracious to my family and our country. But shame on all of you pretending everything is OK. You are leading us — and him — into a disaster, and you damn well know it," said Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., who is challenging the president for the Democratic nomination.

Biden, on other occasions, has, misidentified his grandchildren, repeatedly told train stories that could not have happened and of late, has been reported to be turning to gutter language when describing those he dislikes in private conversations.
