Sen. Warren calls for complete shutdown of pro-life ‘crisis pregnancy centers’ that provide alternative to abortions

Pro-life crisis pregnancy centers have long served as an alternative to abortion clinics for women struggling with an unaffordable or unplanned pregnancy, and Democrats have long belied their purported “pro-choice” stance by vociferously opposing such life-saving options for pregnant women.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is one of those pro-abortion Democrats who has viscerally denounced crisis pregnancy centers and now she has called for a complete shut down of the alternatives to abortions, Breitbart reported.

The Massachusetts senator couched her call for a ban against the pro-life centers on the dubious assertion that such centers routinely and dishonestly “fool people” into thinking they are actually an abortion clinic when they don’t actually provide or make referrals for abortions.

“We need to shut them down all around the country”

While speaking with reporters this week, an obviously outraged Sen. Warren said, “In Massachusetts, right now, those ‘crisis pregnancy centers,’ that are there to fool people who are looking for pregnancy termination help, outnumber true abortion clinics by 3-t0-1.”

We need to shut them down here in Massachusetts and we need to shut them down all around the country,” she added. “You should not be able to torture a pregnant person like that.”

So, so very wrong

Where to even begin here? First of all, the word that Sen. Warren, an ostensible feminist deeply invested in defending women’s rights, was searching for but could not find was “pregnant woman,” not “pregnant person.”

Also, a thorough explanation is required as to how a crisis pregnancy center offering pregnant women alternatives to abortion and free or low-cost assistance with their pregnancy can somehow be construed as “torture” of that individual.

Then we must determine how Warren’s complete denunciation of crisis pregnancy centers here fits in with the left’s oft-repeated narrative that sharp rhetoric from politicians can be directly linked to targeted acts of harassment and violence from allies or supporters of such politicians.

That third point is particularly important right now given the recent surge of harassment, vandalism, and even violence aimed at crisis pregnancy centers and pro-life organizations by leftist abortion supporters in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned by the Supreme Court, some of which is now being investigated by the FBI, according to The Center Square.

Warren wants to send FTC after crisis pregnancy centers

To be sure, this is not the first time that Sen. Warren has attacked pro-life crisis pregnancy centers, as she introduced legislation last month that would empower the Federal Trade Commission to crack down with investigations and fines against such centers over alleged “disinformation” and “misleading advertising” as well as the dissemination of “inaccurate, misleading, and stigmatizing information about abortion and contraception.”

Warren said of her proposed bill in June, “With a far-right Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, it’s more important than ever to crack down on so-called ‘crisis pregnancy centers’ that mislead women about reproductive health care. I’m working in the Senate to stop these deceptive practices and ensure every American can access the abortion care they need.”
