Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) made a shocking attack on the Supreme Court during the Senate impeachment trial.
Warren asked a question that was a veiled attack on the Supreme Court by asking if Republicans’ refusal to allow new witnesses in the Senate trial will impact the public trust in the Supreme Court.
Question asked in bad faith
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has been presiding over the impeachment trial since the beginning and has taken great pains to remain impartial, but that’s not good enough for the far left contingent of our government.
Since Roberts is the presiding officer over the trial, it is his duty to read aloud the questions from the Senators.
The question from Warren, read by Justice Roberts, asked:
At a time when large majorities of Americans have lost faith in government, does the fact that the chief justice is presiding over an impeachment trial in which Republican senators have thus far refused to allow witnesses or evidence contribute to the loss of legitimacy of the chief justice, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution?
The role of the Supreme Court in the impeachment trial is symbolic, thus there is no reason to attack an impartial player in the process. The question itself is yet more evidence that Democrats are willing to lash out at anyone that doesn’t fall completely in line with their agenda.
Warren’s question also will create more problems in the Democrat offense strategy. Head impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-CA) had previously said Roberts’s conduct was “admirable.”
Attacking the Supreme Court is not going to do the impeachment managers any favors. All it does is further erode Americans’ support of the Democrat cause.
Trial all but over
With or without witnesses, there was little chance of President Trump being convicted in the Senate trial. Republicans were firmly behind him the whole way, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made clear from the very inception of the impeachment inquiry.
Warren’s astonishing attack further illustrates the Democrat desperation that is making itself quite apparent at this time.
With a firm Republican backing, President Trump deserves to have a laugh at Democrats. With the witness fight dying down, the Senate is likely to acquit the President within just days.
If impeachment has taught Democrats and Republicans anything, picking battles is extremely important. Unfortunately, after President Trump is acquitted, Democrat politicians will move onto the next smear campaign having learned nothing.
