President Joe Biden has often professed his complete ignorance with regard to the dubious foreign business dealings of his son, Hunter Biden, but newly revealed evidence strongly indicates that the president’s repeated claim is untrue.
A 2018 voicemail from the elder Biden to his son found on Hunter’s abandoned laptop made reference to the younger Biden being “clear” of allegations of potential wrongdoing in relation to a major news outlet article about Hunter’s dealings with Chinese businessmen, the Washington Examiner reported.
The voicemail was reportedly recovered from iPhone backup data that was found on the hard drive of the laptop that Hunter had abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop — copies of which have since been obtained and scrutinized by various media outlets.
At issue here was a New York Times article in Dec. 2018 that covered Hunter Biden’s questionable business dealings with a now-defunct Chinese conglomeration known as CEFC.
Hunter had formed a partnership with CEFC Chairman Ye Jianming as well as one of Ye’s top allies, Patrick Ho. Ye had been accused of corruption in China and essentially disappeared, while Ho was separately tried and convicted on corruption charges and was deported back to Hong Kong in 2021 after serving a three-year prison sentence.
According to the newly-discovered voicemail on the laptop, Joe Biden called his son on the evening of Dec. 12, 2018, and said, “Hey pal, it’s Dad. It’s 8:15 on Wednesday night. If you get a chance, just give me a call. Nothing urgent. I just wanted to talk with you.”
“I thought the article released online, it’s going to be printed tomorrow in the Times, was good. I think you’re clear. And anyway, if you get a chance, give me a call. I love you,” he added in reference to the Times article.

Joe knew what Hunter was up to
The voicemail was first reported on by the Daily Mail, which noted that Joe Biden’s message to his son about the article covering his Chinese business dealings quite clearly contradicts the current president’s claim of having no knowledge whatsoever of his son’s business dealings.
Indeed, the Examiner pointed out that then-candidate Joe Biden, when pressed about his son’s dubious dealings in Sept. 2019, said, “I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings,” and both he and members of his campaign and White House team have repeated some variation of that same claim numerous times over the past few years.
Yet, the Daily Mail’s report noted that there were already several examples of instances where the elder Biden quite clearly met with his son’s business partners on multiple occasions, including at the White House and on foreign trips during his time as vice president.
This new voicemail is indeed a “smoking gun” that strongly indicates that the president has been blatantly dishonest with the American people — unless of course, he legitimately doesn’t remember … neither of which is good — about his level of knowledge of his son’s business dealings with questionable foreign individuals and companies.
