President Joe Biden stunned the nation on Thursday when he announced that all businesses that employ over 100 employees will be required to issue COVID-19 vaccine mandates. The move was widely celebrated by a number of high-profile Democrats.
However, many of those same Democrats, including Biden, not long ago promised that they couldn’t or wouldn’t “force” Americans to take a COVID-19 vaccination. One Twitter user compiled a supercut video showing top Democrats assuring Americans that no such mandates would ever be issued.

Surprise, surprise. They lied.
The mandate era
During the bombshell mandate announcement, Biden expressed his frustration — or at least whatever was written on the teleprompter — over the amount of “damage” that unvaccinated Americans are causing the rest of the population.
“We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us,” the president said, in a forceful tone that some believe was an attempt to show a modicum of some form of leadership after his humiliating defeat in Afghanistan.
Companies who fall under the new federal requirements will be subjected to steep fines if they fail to require vaccine mandates or forcing their unvaccinated workers to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing, to the tune of $14,000 per occurrence, which will be enforced through Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
In addition, airline passengers who refuse to mask up will also be hit with heavy fines.
GOP fights back
While Republicans are still hamstrung in their abilities to take action at a legislative level, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced that her organization will lead a legal fight against Biden’s new mandates, according to The Daily Wire.
“Joe Biden told Americans when he was elected that he would not impose vaccine mandates. He lied,” McDaniel said. “Now small businesses, workers, and families across the country will pay the price.”
McDaniel went on to point out that a number of small businesses, especially as they recover from the brutal year of pandemic-related losses, will not be able to afford the logistics necessary to ensure Biden’s mandates are met.
Biden once promised Americans that his administration would be the most transparent, unifying, and truthful administrations in U.S. history — a promise that has been broken over and over again since Jan. 20.
