Just because the summer vacation season is over does not mean the violence is going to end in Chicago.
Last Tuesday, the violence continued with two more people being shot and killed and another 13 wounded, according to Breitbart.
While most of the country was preparing to honor the victims of the 9/11 tragedy, citizens of Chicago were killing each other.
Early Tuesday morning, a 27-year-old man was shot and killed. About an hour later, another man died from gunshot wounds sustained in the area near 1600 S. Loomis Street. He was only 18 years old.
One of the more disturbing attacks happened to a 16-year-old boy riding a bike. According to a report, he was the victim of a drive-by shooting.
Over the last two weekends, 63 people were shot, 12 fatally.
Challenging Ted Cruz
Earlier this month, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) used the violence in Chicago as an example of the fact that strict gun laws do not work as intended.
When Cruz mentioned Chicago in a tweet, Mayor Lori Lightfoot took serious exception, stating the violence in her city was due to guns coming from states that elected legislators like Cruz who defend the NRA and the Second Amendment.
Cruz hit Lightfoot back with hard facts, and a Twitter battle between the two ensued, with Lightfoot ultimately inviting Cruz to come to Chicago to debate the topic of gun violence.
It took a few weeks, but Cruz finally declined, saying he would not be part of a political spectacle when the subject matter is so serious. Lightfoot, however, continues to spew rhetoric while the citizens of her city keep dying on the street.
While Democrats lose it over mass shootings, they seem to have no problem with multiple bodies dropping every day on the streets of Chicago. The double standard they continue to employ is despicable.
They dare not even broach the subject of violence in Democrat-run cities because most of those localities have far stricter gun laws than conservative-run jurisdictions, so they know their narrative will be destroyed.
