American troops are being moved to Saudi Arabia for the defense of U.S. interests.
The Pentagon has avoided mentioning Iran, the BBC reports, but considering they are the threat, it goes without saying: War is imminent. That is of course, unless Iran realizes they will never win.
The Saudi king authorized the U.S. to establish a troop presence for the first time since 2003.
BBC reports that “the Pentagon has said US troops are being deployed to Saudi Arabia to defend American interests from emergent credible threats.”
These troops will be manning an air defense system in Saudi Arabia.
NBC News reports that “over the coming weeks the deployment to Prince Sultan Air Base, intended to counter the threat from Iran, will grow to include fighter jets and Patriot long-range missile defense systems.”
This is a worrying development for those hoping to avoid war. But it may be wishful thinking to believe we can avoid conflict.
Iran can’t win
Iran is foolish to escalate tensions. If it comes to war they will be destroyed.
According to Fox News, “National Security Adviser John Bolton said the U.S. was sending the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the U.S. Central Command region, which includes the Middle East.”
Iran will have to face off against the proven might of the U.S. ground forces. But also they will have to defend against overwhelming naval and air power.
With an entire fleet moving into the region, Iran cannot defend against a total blockade.
Maybe it is time to crush the totalitarian regime that has been a thorn in the world’s side for far too long.
