United Airlines blows tire on approach at Newark

More than 160 passengers got a little more than they bargained for during a recent flight from Denver to Newark.

United Airlines Flight 627 blew out a tire during its approach at Newark Liberty International Airport, terrifying passengers, and nearly ending in tragedy.

The Flight

UA Flight 627 is a daily flight going from Denver to Newark.

The plane had been scheduled to land around 1:00 p.m.

All was well until the plane touched down.

One of the tires on the plane suddenly blew out.

Initially, reports were the plane had run off the runway, but they were later refuted.

While the tire did blow out, the plane only “veered to the left side of the pavement.”

Scary Moment

Regardless of how things ended up, we can only imagine the horror going through the minds of the passengers on the plane.

In all, there were 166 passengers on board the flight.

The landing resulted in some minor injuries that did require medical treatment, but all passengers miraculously walked away from the site of the incident.

While the airport did shut down for a short time, it was re-opened by 3 p.m. local time, with limited operations. The NTSB had requested the plane be left where it stopped pending an investigation.
