Wuhan, China was Ground Zero for the coronavirus pandemic. It is also the home of two virology labs. Early on in the pandemic, there was some speculation that the virus could have leaked from the labs. Most pundits have dismissed the notion as a conspiracy theory — but the British government isn’t so sure.
An official on the U.K. coronavirus response team has come out and said they have not discounted the idea that the coronavirus originated in one of the labs in Wuhan, calling it a “credible alternative” to the current wisdom that attributes the virus to human consumption of bats, the Washington Examiner reported.
Considering the extreme lengths China has gone to in order to suppress information about the virus, world governments are now beginning to be more skeptical. What started as a conspiracy theory could turn out to be the truth.
There is a distinct possibility that the coronavirus strain that is holding the world in a pandemic is a Chinese designed bio-weapon.
A member of COBRA, PM Boris Johnson’s emergency response team, told the Daily Mail, “There is a credible alternative view [to the zoonotic theory] based on the nature of the virus. Perhaps it is no coincidence that there is that laboratory in Wuhan. It is not discounted.”
The Mail noted that the two labs are both located within ten miles of the infamous Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market. One of the two, The Institute of Virology, is said to be the most advanced virology lab in the nation and is known to handle some of the most deadly viruses in the world.
Wuhan Centre for Disease Control, the other lab in the area, is also thought to have handled highly virulent coronavirus strains.
Even more damning is the fact that, as the Mail report pointed out, “a study by the South China University of Technology concluded that COVID-19 ‘probably’ originated in the Centre for Disease Control – although shortly after its publication, the research paper was removed from a social networking site for scientists and researchers.”
Hold China accountable
In a recent report to the White House, U.S. intelligence officials called China’s coronavirus numbers “flat out fake,” according to Fox News. But that hasn’t stopped the mainstream media from covering for them.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) blasted the mainstream media for this last week, the Examiner reported, saying: “The reason I have raised these questions from the very beginning is because of China’s statements and their actions. After concealing the virus for many weeks in December and then minimizing its severity for most of January, they then peddle an origin story about the food market in Wuhan Given their dishonesty and the proximity of these labs, which we know were working with coronaviruses, it is only reasonable and responsible for us to ask the question and demand the answer.”
COVID-19 has infected nearly one million people worldwide, and thousands have died. Whether China intentionally released the virus or it simply accidentally escaped from one of the labs is irrelevant.
China knowingly lied to the world about the danger the coronavirus presented from December through to the end of January, leading to policy delays that cost thousands of lives. When the dust settles from this disaster, China must be held to account for what really happened in Wuhan.
