One of Fox’s most popular personalities has set a new record.
Fox News reports that host Tucker Carlson has finished the month of October with the largest audience in cable news history.
Carlson’s primetime program, Tucker Carlson Tonight, averaged an unprecedented 5.4 million viewers per night throughout the month of October, making it the “highest-rated monthly viewership of any program in the history of cable news,” according to Fox.
Carlson’s Fox News colleague, Sean Hannity, also performed well this month. His prime-time show, fittingly titled Hannity, had a staggering 5.1 million viewer-per-night average, Fox reported.
These two programs — Tucker Carlson Tonight and Hannity — led the network to “the highest-rated month in cable news history – beating free TV heavyweights such as ABC’s The Bachelorette in the process,” according to Fox.
Another major success for the network this month was Fox’s The Five, which finished third among all cable news programs, even with its 5 p.m. time slot. In fourth place was Laura Ingraham’s The Ingraham Angle, which averaged 4.1 million viewers a night during the month of October. According to Fox, this also was “cable news history, finishing as the most-watched female host in history.”
After The Ingraham Angle was MSBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, according to Deadline.
But with Tucker Carlson Tonight, Hannity, The Five, The Ingraham Angle, and The Story with Martha MacCallum, Fox took the top five spots in terms of viewership by adults between the ages of 25 to 54.
Fox, with 4.9 million viewers, was the most-watched network during the primetime 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. hours, for the 10th straight month. For context, Fox News’ rival MSNBC managed only 2.7 million. Compared to Carlson’s first-place finish, CNN’s top program, Cuomo Prime Time, finished 16th.
Leading the way
Fox News also performed well outside of primetime hours. It managed 2.3 million total viewers, beating out every network, including MSNBC, CNN, ESPN, HGTV, Hallmark, TBS, Investigation Discovery, and Food Network.
Overall, October was the 52nd straight month that Fox was the most-watched basic cable network, reports noted.
Is Fox News’ dominance a sign that Americans are sick of left-wing news networks? It certainly looks that way.
