Fox News star Tucker Carlson revealed on Tuesday an audio recording that featured a conversation between CNN host Chris Cuomo and former Trump attorney Michael Cohen — and it was nothing short of shocking.
According to the Washington Examiner, Carlson played just a snippet of the tape, which is reportedly more than an hour long, on Tuesday’s episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight. In the clip, Cuomo can be heard shrugging off allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
“You know, I’m always careful when I talk to media,” the CNN host and brother of New York’s Democrat governor says, according to the Examiner. “Do you know how many f*****g phone calls I’ve gotten from people at ABC who say that reporters are calling and lying about things they’ve heard about me, to try to get stories about me when I was at ABC? Guys calling and saying, ‘I heard he was the Charlie Rose of ABC. He used to invite women to a hotel and open his bathrobe.'”
“Not your friend”
Cuomo added: “Do I look like the kind of f*****g guy who’s gotta do that?”
The discussion between Cuomo and Cohen reportedly dates back to at least 2018 and is said to be but one of at least a dozen such taped conversations involving Cohen and a number of other prominent figures, both in the media and in politics.
In the tape released by Carlson this week, Cuomo complains about women saying things like, “you know, we bumped into each other once in the elevator, and he put his hand on my shoulder, and he made me really uncomfortable,” the Examiner reports.
Cuomo also reportedly offered a warning to Trump’s ex-lawyer: “The media is not your friend.”
“I mean what the f***! It’s a problem. And now…I’m careful with the media, always,” Cuomo said, according to the Examiner. “I’ve always told you: The media is not your friend.”
Cuomo has yet to issue a statement on the newly released recordings, and the Examiner reported that both CNN and ABC declined to comment when asked.
For what it’s worth, Carlson provided an update Wednesday about supposed “trouble” Cuomo was rumored to be facing at CNN. “We’re not sure what that means, but we hope, and we say this with total sincerity, we hope that CNN isn’t thinking of firing Chris Cuomo over the tape we aired,” the Fox host said, according to the Examiner. “Not every claim of sexual harassment is true. We can tell you that firsthand.”
President Donald Trump, for his part, took the opposite approach.
Will Fredo be fired by Fake News @CNN? He speaks with great disrespect about women, and it will only get worse. Fredo’s Ratings are bad, so this is the time. Always terrible to speak to sleazebags, especially when you are being recorded. CNN has no choice, Fredo must go! https://t.co/veVwg7G1YF
