One of former President Donald Trump's attornies just indicated that, should Trump be indicted this week, he will comply with any attempted arrest.
That attorney - Joe Tacopina - said as much to the New York Daily news.
"There won’t be a standoff at Mar-a-Lago with Secret Service and the Manhattan DA’s office," Tacopina said.
He added:
Most people would collapse under the weight of this. He seems to turn everything into a positive and everything into a boost for his campaign, so I’m sure this will just join that long list of things that people think no one could overcome, but he will.
The massive backstory here is that Trump revealed on Friday that "illegal leaks" indicate that he will be arrested on Tuesday.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote:
NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!
Trump, here, is referring to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who has been leading an investigation into the alleged money that Trump, in 2016, had his lawyer give to adult film star Stormy Daniels in order to prevent her from revealing an alleged affair that she had with Trump.
It is not clear what charges Bragg may bring. Trump made his position on the matter clear in the above message.
Neither the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) nor Bragg's office has commented on Trump's message. But, previous reporting has indicated that Bragg was planning on meeting with law enforcement this week. Many expect that this is because Bragg will indict Trump.
Many are now predicting that, if Trump were to be actually arrested, it would be a huge boost to his 2024 campaign for the U.S. presidency.
Among those who are making such an argument is Elon Musk.
"If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory," Musk tweeted.
The argument, of course, is that Americans have already had enough of the way the political left has used the resources of the government to pursue Trump - and an arrest would push things over the edge, where many Americans would feel obligated to back Trump against an unjust government.
If Trump's right, that his arrest is imminent, this theory might just be put to the test.
