Oh, what a difference a day makes.
Special counsel Robert Mueller, once distrusted by President Donald Trump’s supporters, is now enjoying a sudden burst of popularity with them, with recent polls showing a dramatic rise in Mueller’s approval ratings.
One of the most recent polls almost tripled his approval rating, from 11 percent to 32 percent.
Still Don’t Like Him
While Mueller’s ratings are on the rise, his name no doubt still creates some agitation for many Trump supporters.
The fact that Mueller allowed this investigation go on for so long will always bother Trump’s base. Additionally, there are all the tangential investigations that arose from this investigation that will never sit well with diehard Trump supporters.
In the end, though, at least on collusion and obstruction, Mueller gave Trump’s supporters the news they wanted and needed to hear.
Trump Re-Focuses His Attacks
Just as Trump’s base appears to be warming up to Mueller, so has the President.
For the last two years, Trump hasn’t been happy with Mueller, his staff, and the investigation. That all changed on Friday, though.
Trump told a reporter Monday that he agreed that Mueller acted honorably.
Not so for dishonest Democrats and the complicit media. “There are a lot of people out there that have done some very, very evil things, very bad things, I would say treasonous things against our country,” Trump said Monday, adding that “they lied to Congress, and many of them you know who they are. They’ve done so many evil things.”
One person, in particular, that is feeling the weight of GOP displeasure is Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who is the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. Schiff has been telling people for two years Trump was guilty, and now Republicans want him to answer for his lies.
It has started with Republicans calling for his resignation as the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and it will likely not end until they have him completely removed from office.
