Trump tweets support for Fox’s Judge Jeanine, Tucker Carlson in wake of recent controversies

The leader of the free world has just come to the aid of two embattled Fox News hosts.

President Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday morning to defend Fox News personality Judge Jeanine Pirro whose show was conspicuously absent from its regular Saturday time slot following controversial remarks about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and he also offered a few words in support of Tucker Carlson who has been dealing with troubles of his own in recent days.

“Stay strong”

The president issued a series of three tweets conveying his thoughts on the matter, saying:

Besides calling for the return of Judge Jenine, Trump’s message continued by urging the network to stand firm in the face of critics and competitors.

The president finished with a call for Fox to remain loyal “to the people that got you there.”

Fox hosts pushing the boundaries

Pirro recently came under fire after questioning whether Rep. Omar’s allegiance is to Sharia law rather than to the U.S. Constitution because she wears a traditional Islamic hijab head covering.

Following considerable backlash from the liberal left, Fox officials formally condemned the remarks, and advertisers began pulling their spots. Notably, Pirro’s program Justice with Judge Jeanine did not air at its usual time Saturday evening, with the network instead running a repeat episode of the documentary series Scandalous.

It remains unclear whether the show’s absence from the Fox News lineup will be made permanent.

“We’re not commenting on internal scheduling matters,” a network spokesperson told The Hill.

Tucker Carlson Tonight has faced its own advertising boycott after the liberal activist group Media Matters for America disseminated resurfaced audio recordings of the host making controversial remarks on a shock jock radio program in the years between 2006 and 2011. Thus far, however, the program has managed to weather the storm and remain on the air.

Fox News is undoubtedly a cable ratings juggernaut, but one wonders if that will continue to be the case if the network caves to the PC police and demonstrates a willingness to sacrifice popular hosts on the altar of leftist outrage.
