With Robert Mueller’s likely disappointing report looming, President Donald Trump is making sure everyone knows who to blame for the so-called “witch hunt” against him.
President Trump has lashed out at former FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe several times over the last several weeks, questioning the legitimacy of the investigation as McCabe makes the media rounds asserting that members of Trump’s administration are trying to undercut his presidency.
McCabe won the first round of this battle by approving the Russia-collusion-turned-obstruction-of-justice investigation into Donald Trump. But the way things are shaping up, Round 2 could be going to the man in the White House.
The disgraced former FBI employee is out promoting his new book, the contents of which make it quite clear that McCabe had an agenda while he was acting FBI director.
But that is not where his problems end.
McCabe’s book has also brought to light some wrongdoings by the FBI while he was in charge.
According to reports, McCabe was so upset about his predecessor James Comey being fired that he launched an investigation as a way for him to get even with Trump.
True or False
If we take McCabe at his word — and most don’t — he and Rod Rosenstein were conspiring to remove Trump from office. McCabe says the two were plotting to record conversations and recruit cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment.
But Rosenstein has denied everything McCabe said about him.
Furthermore, McCabe’s ouster, which occurred after he lied on the job, has been justified by the Inspector General. And McCabe still has a federal investigation into his lying ongoing that involves a grand jury.
The more we know, the more this looks like one man was bent on revenge.
It has been proven that McCabe is a liar, yet the media is not even touching on this during his book tour. So President Trump has no choice but to lash out against him to get the facts on the table.
“Wow, so many lies by now disgraced acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe,” Trump tweeted on Monday. “He was fired for lying, and now his story gets even more deranged.”
And if it turns out that the investigation into Trump was, in fact, launched as a way to get back at the president for his choice to fire James Comey, McCabe is going to have a lot more than Trump’s tweets to worry about.
