Since leaving his administration, Former Attorney General Bill Barr has had few nice things to say about his former boss, President Donald Trump, and vice versa. 

However, Barr presumably stunned the former president and his supporters by offering his formal endorsement of Trump last week.

But according to Fox News, the endorsement wasn't exactly revered by Trump, as he taunted Barr in a Truth Social post in the wake of receiving it.

Barr and Trump have butted heads on several occasions since the two split during the end of Trump's time in the White House.

What was said?

In a Fox News interview earlier this month, Barr slammed the Department of Justice for pursuing Trump like it has, calling the cases against Trump "obviously political."

Fox News noted:

Barr, who led the Department of Justice under Trump, argued the case signals what the real threat to democracy is in his opinion — the "excesses of the progressive left."

"This case is an abomination," Barr said during the interview. "It's obviously political. Seven years after he pays hush money to try to come up with this case. It's also, as you say, it's not only far-fetched… they're trying to predicate it on a federal crime which wasn't prosecuted."

Barr was then asked if he was prepared to vote for his former boss in November. His reply, which was loaded with anti-Trump sentiment even though he said he would, is probably what triggered his former boss.

"I’ve said all along, given two bad choices, I think it’s my duty to pick the person I think would do the least harm to the country," Barr said.

"And in my mind, I will vote the Republican ticket. Trump may be playing Russian roulette, but a continuation of the Biden administration is national suicide in my opinion," Barr continued.

Trump's response

In true Trump fashion, the former president torched Barr in a Truth Social post in the wake of the endorsement, holding absolutely nothing back.

"Wow! Former A.G. Bill Barr, who let a lot of great people down by not investigating Voter Fraud in our Country, has just Endorsed me for President despite the fact that I called him 'Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy,'" Trump wrote.

"Based on the fact that I greatly appreciate his wholehearted Endorsement, I am removing the word 'Lethargic' from my statement," Trump added. "Thank you Bill. MAGA2024!"

Only time will tell if Barr takes back what he said, not that it would matter all that much.
