According to former President Donald Trump, it is time for President Joe Biden to go.
The Washington Examiner reports that Trump called for President Biden’s resignation on Sunday following America’s embarrassing surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban, who managed to sack the war-torn country in a matter of 10 days.
Trump called upon Biden to resign in a statement that he released on Sunday from his Save America political action committee (PAC).
“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” Trump wrote. “It shouldn’t be a big deal, because he wasn’t elected legitimately in the first place!”
Biden blames Trump
Over the weekend, Taliban forces moved rapidly into the capital city of Kabul. Now, less than two weeks after the Taliban began the last leg of its offensive, the terrorist group has managed to literally capture the entire country.
The Taliban’s offensive was facilitated by America’s withdrawal of its troops from Afghanistan. The withdrawal, which was announced under Trump and involved several conditions, was seemingly executed under Biden with little to no strategic planning, leading to the chaos that is currently unfolding.
But that hasn’t stopped Biden and his Cabinet members from blaming Trump, regardless. “When I came to office, I inherited a deal cut by my predecessor that left the Taliban in the strongest position militarily since 2001,” Biden recently said.
Trump and his allies, though, have fired back, arguing that the withdrawal they negotiated was conditioned on the Taliban leaving America alone, and that the Biden administration has allowed the Taliban to violate that specific condition without consequence. Trump noted on Saturday that the Taliban feared his administration, adding that it doesn’t fear Biden’s, which is what has led to the ultimate fall of Afghanistan.
A total, chaotic mess
The Biden administration has insisted that it is not abandoning, evacuating, or withdrawing from Afghanistan. What we have witnessed over the past handful of days, however, would suggest otherwise.
Americans were first ordered to leave Afghanistan, and remaining workers at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul were instructed to destroy “sensitive materials,” including U.S. flags. Shortly after, the American flag at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul was taken down and embassy personnel were evacuated.
The U.S. military was enlisted to help facilitate the mass evacuations. Those plans very clearly went south, as Biden’s Pentagon has been forced to deploy thousands of extra troops — 7,000, according to Yahoo News— to help extract the remaining personnel and Afghan allies out of the country.
Sadly, it appears on a world stage that America has gone running with tucked tail while the Taliban has successfully reestablished its brutal reign of power, and it all happened under Biden’s watch.
