Democrats say they want to call President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to testify about his role in the Ukraine “scandal,” and now, Trump is telling them to bring it on.
On Saturday, Trump told reporters at the White House that after having been in Ukraine within the last week gathering information on Joe Biden, Guiliani is ready to come before Congress to testify, the Daily Mail Reports.
There are several reports looming this week that are going to be big news.
First, Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz’s report on the FBI’s role in the surveillance of the 2016 Trump campaign was released on Monday afternoon.
While the IG did not conclude that there was political bias underlying the agency’s actions, it’s unlikely that Trump or his supporters are going to see it that way.
A second report that may be out this week will no doubt be a bit harsher in its findings. Trump stated that Giuliani is working on a report comprised of the information he has been able to gather regarding possible Biden corruption in Ukraine.
Giuliani’s own investigation
Since Democrats won’t investigate Joe Biden, and they claim that any investigation into him is nothing but an attempt to help Trump get re-elected, Giuliani took the initiative and met with some former Ukrainian officials who are still trying to help eliminate corruption in their country.
For instance, Giuliani met with Andril Derkach, a member of the Ukraine parliament. He also talked to former Ukraine diplomat Andrii Telizhenko.
Trump said of Giuliani: “He has not told me what he found, but I think he wants to go before Congress…I hear he has found plenty.” Trump indicated that Giuliani is currently finalizing the report and will hand it over to AG Bill Barr and Congress.
Giuliani’s report may help us get more clarity on when Joe Biden became aware of Hunter Biden’s Burisma board position, something that may conflict with the tales that the former VP has been spewing on the campaign trail.
Democrats will likely try to belittle the report by Giuliani to protect Biden, but the report will bring to light some real issues that cannot be overlooked.
In the end, Giuliani may well be called before Congress to offer some clarity on his role in Ukraine as well as getting some of these new accusations on the record.
