While the former Ambassador for Ukraine was testifying before the House on Friday, President Donald Trump sent out a bombshell tweet.
Trump stated that the reason he fired Marie Yovanovitch was that she had the anti-Midas touch and everywhere she went “turned bad.”
Everywhere Marie Yovanovitch went turned bad. She started off in Somalia, how did that go? Then fast forward to Ukraine, where the new Ukrainian President spoke unfavorably about her in my second phone call with him. It is a U.S. President’s absolute right to appoint ambassadors.

It’s not intimidation, it’s free speech
Yovanovitch was placed in Ukraine during the Obama administration and was recalled from her position in May of 2019, soon after Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky was elected.
She testified that she felt “threatened” by comments President Trump made to the newly elected Zelensky that she was “bad news.”
Trump sent out his clarifying tweets right in the middle of the hearing. Chairman Adam Schiff actually stopped the hearings to read the tweets to Yovanovitch.
Schiff’s purpose for doing this was made immediately clear, as he tried to portray the tweets as witness intimidation in an effort to add more charges against Trump.
When the Democrat narrative started to take hold, Trump immediately fought back at a press conference. Trump stated that he was not trying to intimidate anyone and that all he was doing was defending himself.
If you watched Day Two of the hearing, you’ll know it was a complete disgrace. The blocking of Republicans started right out of the gate when Schiff refused GOP Rep. Devin Nunes’ request to allow Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) to use some of the opening time.
Now, technically, Schiff did nothing wrong, but the optics on this were really bad. It is also important to know that traditionally, the “rule” is not followed during a hearing.
Schiff did the same thing throughout the hearing, cutting off Republicans, blocking submissions, and giving himself extra time. As a matter of fact, at the end of the hearing, when things were not going so well for Democrats, Schiff gave himself five minutes to flip the narrative in the second half of the hearing.
However, when Republicans requested an additional five minutes to rebut his soliloquy, he completely ignored the request and shut down the hearing.
For any American with common sense, it should be quite clear by now this hearing a sham.
