Trump pledges to ‘get to the bottom’ of January 6 prisoners being ‘tormented’ by government

In a special message to those imprisoned for having an alleged role in the January 6 Capitol breach, former President Donald Trump said he was “working” on their behalf and that the government needed to stop mistreating them.

‘Patriot freedom is what it’s about and that’s not happening in our country. What they’ve done to torment people and go after people, like never before, I don’t think anything like this has ever happened in our country before, certainly not to this extent,’ Trump said in a video recorded at Mar-A-Lago for a group that helps with the legal defense of those charged with crimes that occurred on January 6.

“And you look at other groups which have done terrible things and virtually nothing happened to them,” Trump said, referring to Antifa and Black Lives Matter protests that killed a handful of people and burned hundreds if not thousands of stores and offices.

“It’s the weaponization of the Department of Justice and we can’t let this happen in our country,” Trump said. He is another target of the weaponized DOJ, so he has a vested interest in getting them to back off.

“Never seen anything like it”

Trump has said he plans to pardon those charged with crimes on January 6 if he is elected to a second term.

“People have been treated unconstitutionally, in my opinion, and very, very unfairly, and we’re going to get to the bottom of it,” the ex-POTUS vowed. “And you know what I’ve said, I take it very seriously, I have never seen anything like it at all levels.”

Trump knows that the main reason anyone was charged and has been imprisoned, some facing years in jail, was because they supported him.

Antifa and BLM members have gotten a slap on the wrist, if anything, for similar behavior.

Unfair treatment

January 6 prisoners are being held in a special jail in Washington, D.C. under deplorable conditions, and some are being beaten, they said.

Some even asked for a transfer to Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, saying it would be better than the so-called “Freedom Wing” of the jail they are currently held in.

Some are still awaiting trial and are being treated like murderers or rapists, rather than trespassers on federal property.

It’s inhumane that these people are being held effectively as political prisoners and treated cruelly, and if anyone can make things right, it’s Trump.
