Trump voices disapproval of Pelosi’s new ‘oversight’ committee

Over the last several days, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) have announced plans to investigate the Trump administration’s coronavirus response, and President Donald Trump is not happy.

After hearing of Pelosi’s launch of an oversight committee for the stimulus and administration response, Trump pushed back, declaring, “This is not the time for politics. Endless, partisan investigations, here we go again.”

Pelosi’s committee

When the coronavirus Phase 3 rescue/stimulus package was written, numerous oversight controls were put in place.

That, however, was not enough to stop Pelosi from wasting more taxpayer money and creating another one, though. Pelosi announced on Thursday that she’s now created the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis.

Even worse, she has put Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) in charge of the committee.

Clyburn in the same man that singlehandedly saved Democrat frontrunner Joe Biden’s campaign as well. He also said that the coronavirus presented a great opportunity to reshape national policy the way Democrats want it.

Trump lamented the move as “witch hunt after witch hunt after witch hunt. And in the end, it’s people doing the witch hunt who are losing.” He went on to call Pelosi’s commission a “big waste of vital resources, time, and attention.”

Schiff’s commission

Not one to miss out on another opportunity to attack Trump, Schiff also began forming a “what went wrong” commission. Schiff’s wording was meant to make this appear as though it will be a bipartisan investigation, but it is a safe bet that will be far from the case.

The really interesting thing here is that Democrats did absolutely nothing before the end of February to address the growing coronavirus threat.

In fact, both Pelosi and Schiff were laser-focused on their failed impeachment attempt while Trump was shutting down travel from China and forming the White House coronavirus task force.

The other really ironic thing is that in addition to more or less ignoring the pandemic, Pelosi is now calling for oversight to “ensure those dollars are spent carefully” — when she was the one responsible for trying to wedge billions in unnecessary spending into the Phase 3 bill.

Now, we all know these committees and commissions usually take years to investigate something. This time around, though, you better believe they will have reached their conclusions before Election Day and it is far from a reach to say the ultimate conclusions will not be favorable for Trump.
