Trump orders creation of national park to celebrate ‘American heroes’: Report

President Donald Trump made an announcement Friday that sent the left into a tailspin.

According to Breitbart, the president said in a speech at Mount Rushmore that he will be signing an executive order to create the “National Garden of American Heroes.”

Breitbart reports that the new national park will honor what Trump called the “greatest Americans who ever lived.”

“I am announcing the creation of a monument to the giants of our past,” Trump said Friday, according to Breitbart. “I am signing an executive order to establish the National Garden of American Heroes, a vast outdoor park that will feature the statues of the greatest Americans who ever lived.”

Poking the bear

This order from Trump will either prove a brilliant move to re-energize his campaign — or the final nail in the coffin of his re-election hopes. In this country right now, it is almost criminal to refer to our Founding Fathers as heroes — and that’s exactly what Trump wants to do.

According to Breitbart, Trump wants to erect statues at the park in honor of former presidents like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan.

Others set to be featured include Susan B. Anthony, Henry Clay, Frederick Douglass, Amelia Earhart, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Harriet Tubman, and Martin Luther King, Jr. — and that’s just to name a few.

According to Breitbart, the park is slated to open July 4, 2026.

Looking forward

To a history buff, this surely seems like a great idea. How better to teach the next generation of this country about great historical figures than to have them all together in one park?

But even though Trump is signing an executive order, it is fairly safe to assume that the only way this park is built is if he wins a second term. If Joe Biden wins, he will likely toss both the EO and the funding for the project right into the trash can on his first day in office.

As of Sunday, the RealClearPolitics average of polls had Biden sitting nearly nine whole points ahead of Trump — but as we learned in 2016, these polls aren’t always accurate, and there’s still a long way to go.

It’s still anybody’s game at this point. And based on his recent actions, it seems President Trump isn’t giving up the fight anytime soon.
