President Trump remembers his mom in Mother’s Day video message

It is not uncommon for the president of the United States to issue a special message on the occasion of major holidays, and Mother’s Day is no different in that regard.

In honor of the special day devoted to motherhood, President Donald Trump released a video message that paid homage to not only mothers across the country in general, but his own departed mother in particular.

According to The Daily Caller, Trump used a portion of his message to speak about the incredible influence his own mother had on his life and credited her with being a force behind his ultimate success in life.

“My fellow Americans, today is one of the most important days of the year: Mother’s Day,” stated Trump. “It’s a special opportunity to thank all of the mothers and grandmothers in our lives.”

“Since the earliest days of our republic, America’s strength has come from the love and courage and devotion of our mothers,” he continued. “They helped us gain our independence.”

“Through their grit, determination, and incredible spirit, they pioneered the West and settled the frontier. During World War II, America’s mothers helped build the greatest arsenal for democracy,” he added.

He then spoke of his own mother, Mary McLeod, an immigrant from Scotland who married his father and became an American citizen.

“I learned so much from my mother. She was just incredible,” stated Trump. “Warm, loving, really smart, could be tough if she had to be, but basically a really nice person.”

“So much of what I’ve done and so much of what I’ve become is because of my mother. I miss her a lot,” he continued.

“So, I say this to you as I think about my mother: Happy Mother’s Day, and God bless the United States of America,” concluded Trump.

This was a rather sweet Mother’s Day message from the president, one with a personal loving touch that some might find to be a pleasant surprise.
