For months, former President Donald Trump was mocked and ridiculed by the mainstream media for suggesting that the COVID-19 virus may have originated in a Wuhan, China lab.
Now, many of those same media outlets are being forced to admit there is indeed evidence that points to the Wuhan laboratory leak being a viable COVID origin theory.
It was just one year ago that mainstream outlets such as CNN were pumping out headlines such as, “Anthony Fauci just crushed Donald Trump’s theory on the origins of the coronavirus.” The Washington Post ran a story at the time titled, “Was the new coronavirus accidentally released from a Wuhan lab? It’s doubtful.”
There are too many similar titles to list here, but a majority of left-leaning media outlets that worked overtime to discredit anything Trump said, cranked out stories that ridiculed the president’s suggestion that the virus had a nefarious origin in China.
Fast-forward to May 2021, the title of stories from the same outlets with regard to COVID’s true origins have shifted considerably. CNN published a story this week titled, “New information on Wuhan researchers’ illness furthers debate on pandemic origins.”
“The vexing ‘lab leak’ theory on China and the coronavirus” was also published this week by The Washington Post. Other outlets like The New York Times have published similar pieces on the issue.
Now that Trump is out of office, journalists have apparently decided to actually do their job and question what caused a global pandemic that wrecked the American economy and left a massive death toll around the world.
Taking cues from Fauci?
Dr. Anthony Fauci, an infectious disease expert adored by the corporate mainstream media, could be another reason why the same outlets who criticized Trump’s take on the matter are now singing a different tune.
Earlier this week, The Hill reported on Fauci’s “bombshell” admission that an investigation should take place into the Wuhan lab theory and that the origin of COVID-19 might not have been natural after all.
“I think we should continue to investigate what went on in China until we continue to find out to the best of our ability what happened,” Fauci said, after saying he was no longer “convinced” that the virus has natural origins, a claim that he made emphatically last year.
Fauci’s new take on the hot-button issue sent shock waves around the globe, and Chinese media outlets are now slamming the infectious disease expert, with one Chinese media outlet labeling Fauci a “degenerate” for calling for further investigation into the Wuhan theory.
While it could take weeks, months, or maybe years to get to the bottom of this, we now know that it’s not a stretch to predict that Trump will likely have the last laugh, as is typically the case.
