Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign team and Russia may finally be coming to a conclusion, but there still may be a couple of indictments handed down.
According to former President Richard Nixon’s former White House counsel, John Dean, two names at the top of that list are first son Donald Trump, Jr. and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Rocking the White House
Mueller may not be able to get President Trump directly, but going after his family may be just as good as far as he is concerned.
Considering how involved Trump Jr. was in the campaign process, the fact that he has yet to be called to testify in front of a grand jury is a huge red flag.
And that’s why Dean is convinced that Trump Jr. will soon find himself under indictment.
“He’s probably been told by the prosecutors that he’s a target,” Dean said. “That means that there’s – unless you’re going to cooperate, there’s going to be an indictment very likely following.”
Dean went on: “He’s not been called in front of a grand jury. That’s another sign that he’s being treated at arm’s length. So, he’s got jeopardy.”
Kushner also apparently has a target on his forehead for his work during the “transition” period after the election prior to his wife Ivanka’s father taking office.
The president’s son-in-law allegedly opened up some back-channel communications with the Russians that have put him at risk.
Trump’s Ire with Mueller
President Trump is not ignorant of the fact that his son and his daughter’s husband are currently staring down the barrel of a special counsel indictment.
With speculation running rampant in recent days, Trump has unleashed a volley of fury at Mueller and his witch hunt of an investigation.
Trump has even said that his team is already working on a response, but that it obviously cannot be completed until Mueller’s full report is handed out.
If Don Jr. and Kushner are indicted, it could be a political disaster for Trump, as he will obviously have to explain what he did and did not know about their actions.
Investors are clearly worried about this, as we have seen markets plunge as these rumors of indictments swell.
Depending upon how the public receives Mueller’s report and those possible indictments, Trump may even become the first one-term president since the late George H.W. Bush.
