Trump infuriated by New York Times’ accusations against Kavanaugh

After the circus that was the nomination process for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, most would think that the left would leave well enough alone.

Well, turns out, there is no low to which the left won’t stoop. The New York Times regurgitated unsubstantiated sexual assault accusations against Kavanaugh again this week. Donald Trump was furious and replied that “Brett Kavanaugh should start suing people for libel, or the Justice Department should come to his rescue,” according to the Daily Caller.

Libelous Claims

Spreading a false story to ruin someone’s reputation is a civil offense. Kavanaugh has had to endure an insane amount of slander in his short time on the Supreme Court.

The latest story came courtesy of The New York Times, with a report alleging that Kavanaugh had exposed himself to a female classmate while at Yale. Then-classmates claim that Kavanaugh pushed his genitals into the hands of the female classmate.

The story was questionable from the beginning. The FBI chose not to investigate this latest version when they were told of the story during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings.

This claim falls apart instantly under scrutiny. The account blew up so quickly that the Times was forced to issue a correction the next day.

No Proof

The alleged victim refused to talk to the Times to corroborate the story. Much more importantly, she reportedly doesn’t even remember the incident in the first place.

This information was deliberately withheld in the original NYT report to sensationalize the smear against Kavanaugh.

The paper had no evidence, and the story’s authors knew that the victim’s own recollection contradicted the allegations, yet they still published the article.

Although the story was almost instantly debunked by fact-checkers on both sides of the aisle, the undue hatred for Kavanaugh has been renewed, just as the NYT intended.

Trump is understandably furious, given he has been subjected to many similar accusations. The left is willing to do anything to destroy Republicans, a tale Trump knows too well. He vehemently defended Kavanaugh, saying: “The lies being told about him are unbelievable. False Accusations without recrimination. When does it stop?”

Kavanaugh could take the New York Times to court over this, and for the sake of regular Americans, he really should. The media has too much power to ruin someone’s reputation. It is time to punish these news outlets for deliberately printing a false and defamatory story.
