President Trump fulfills promise to construct 450 miles of border wall in 2020

Despite the overwhelming resistance President Donald Trump has faced to his immigration policies, 450 miles of the border wall have been completed, meeting the goal Trump set for 2020, Fox News reported.

Acting U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan reported the news Tuesday morning to the press.

“Myself and the deputy commissioner, leaders here, we found out about it — we were briefed on Dec. 31 that we had actually reached the goal, and we had accomplished what we set out to accomplish,” Morgan said.

Quietly winning

Democrats have poured every resource at their disposal into stopping Trump’s plans to build the wall on the southern border, but they failed to stop Trump completely.

Thanks to the impeachment attempt by Democrats at the beginning of the year and with the election taking up Americans’ attention span, Trump has used the opportunity to get portions of the wall built.

Morgan continued, “I remember every time that I said with confidence that I, without hesitation, that we were going to accomplish this goal by Dec. 31. We were going to put 450 miles of steel and concrete along with all the essential attributes of the wall system Dec. 31. We were challenged, and a lot of people didn’t think we’re going to be able to do it. … That is a remarkable achievement.”

While this victory still falls short of Trump’s lofty goals, it is a symbolic victory that demonstrates that anything can be accomplished with enough work and dedication. The president wanted to build 1,000 miles of the border wall during his time in office, but funding has only been secured for 738 miles. When Trump leaves office, President-elect Joe Biden will, without a doubt, sever all resources for further wall funding.

Any hopes of completing the border wall died with Trump’s loss in the presidential election. With Democrats in power, our border will once again be neglected, and illegal immigrants will pour across the border.

Illegal immigration skyrocketing

Illegal border crossings jumped 80% in December as Biden’s administration is expected to embrace open border policies that incentivize illegal immigration.

Commissioner Morgan explained how Biden’s proposed ideas are driving a crisis at the border. “Halting construction of the border wall system, stopping deportations for 100 days, expanding DACA, ending MPP [Migrant Protection Protocols], providing free health care, providing amnesty to millions of individuals here illegally, and the list goes on and on. This isn’t an immigration strategy; it is an open-borders strategy,” he said.

It is an ill-kept secret that Democrats encourage open-border policies for reasons of political advantage. Why cater to American votes when you can import millions of non-American voters?

Republicans must return to power and finish what Trump started.
