Trump formally endorses former US Army Green Beret Michael Waltz for reelection

As the 2022 midterm elections draw closer, hopeful GOP candidates are lining up for an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, given his powerful influence over the party.

According to Breitbart, the latest recipient of a Trump endorsement is none other than Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL), who not only believes in Trump’s America First agenda but has also bravely served the country as a U.S. Army Green Beret.

He was also front-and-center during President Joe Biden’s Afghanistan debacle, using his contacts to help Americans and Afghan allies escape the country, while leveling plenty of well-deserved criticism against the Biden administration for their colossal screw-up.

“Relentless fighter”

In a statement released over the weekend, Trump heaped high praise on Waltz for his service to the country, and assured Florida voters that the District 6 congressman will continue to hold Biden’s feet to the fire.

“Congressman Mike Waltz is a relentless fighter for the incredible people of Florida. As a former U.S. Army Green Beret, Mike is working hard in Congress to hold Joe Biden accountable for his colossal failure and deadly disaster in Afghanistan,” Trump wrote.

After listing off a number of qualities that make Waltz an effective member of Congress — a rare title these days — Trump added, “Mike has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

Prior to Waltz’s election win in 2018, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) held the District 6 seat.

Loyalty is rewarded

It’s not a secret that the former president is quick to reward those who remain loyal, even through the toughest times. Waltz is arguably one of Trump’s most loyal allies in the lower chamber.

That was evidenced earlier this year when Waltz joined a group of Florida Republicans in supporting a Texas-led lawsuit in the Supreme Court that challenged the 2020 election results in a number of key swing states, such as Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

The Florida lawmaker gained national popularity during Biden’s Afghanistan blunder, appearing countless times on Fox News and other media networks to provide insight into how operations in Afghanistan are supposed to work.

Waltz already had little in the way of competition to hold his seat in 2022, and now that he has a Trump endorsement — the equivalent of a golden ticket in modern GOP politics — his victory is all but guaranteed.
