Trump lets loose with flurry of weekend tweets aimed at Nancy Pelosi

As has become commonplace in recent weeks, President Donald Trump utilized Twitter to launch a salvo of rhetorical attacks against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) over the weekend — in this case, with several humiliating tweets that called the California Democrat out over her approach to impeachment and the situation with Iran.

The fusillade began on Sunday morning just ahead of an appearance by Pelosi on ABC’s This Week with anchor George Stephanopoulos, who Trump tagged in a tweet with a request for him to ask her a rather pertinent question related to the sham impeachment effort.

“Ask Crazy Nancy…”

The president tweeted Sunday morning:

Trump’s tweet referenced House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) and his self-professed “parody” of the president’s July 25 phone call with Ukraine leader Volodymyr Zelensky, a call that is at the heart of the Dems’ entire impeachment charade.

For what it’s worth, Stephanopoulos did mention the tweet during his interview with Pelosi — with a focus on how Trump called her “crazy” — but the House speaker danced around the topic, according to a transcript from ABC News, saying that Trump was merely projecting.

But just a few hours later, Trump took to Twitter again, calling out Pelosi and Schiff for lying to Congress. The president added that both Democrats should testify in the Senate’s upcoming impeachment trial.

A question of “fairness”

President Trump took a final shot at Pelosi with a tweet posted Monday morning slamming the speaker for treating him unfairly during the House impeachment inquiry.

“‘We demand fairness’ shouts Pelosi and the Do Nothing Democrats, yet the Dems in the House wouldn’t let us have [one] witness, no lawyers or even ask questions,” Trump lamented. “It was the most unfair witch-hunt in the history of Congress!

Prior to that, the president retweeted a number of posts from other users that called Pelosi out for her apparent dismissal of the Iranians protesting their oppressive regime, which Pelosi apparently has sided with amid heightened tensions with the Islamic Republic.

For her part, Nancy Pelosi should be humiliated by these tweets from the president, but then again, one needs to possess a level of self-awareness to feel shame — something the speaker seems to lack.
