Former President Donald Trump has identified what he is referring to as the Democrats' "newest hoax."
It is that Trump and his fellow Republicans "are a threat to Democracy."
Trump, according to Fox News, said as much on Saturday, during an appearance at the New York Young Republican Club's gala in New York.
During his speech, not only did Trump expose the Democrats' "newest hoax" but he also exposed the "real threat" that America is facing, namely, the Biden administration.
To help put Trump's remarks into perspective, they come after his recent town hall event with the Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity. There, Hannity asked Trump if he would act like a dictator if he were to regain the presidency in 2024.
Trump's response was, "Except for day one. we’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator."
The Democrats pounced on this opportunity. They spent the ensuing week trying to claim that Trump cannot be reelected president in 2024 because, if he were to be, he would act as a dictator would act.
Trump, during his gala appearance, responded to this, saying, "In the past few weeks, the radical left Democrats, their fake news allies have unveiled their newest hoax that Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party are a threat to democracy."
Trump added, "Can you believe it? This is their new line, you know. It's — here we go again — 'Russia, Russia, Russia,' 'Mueller, Mueller, Mueller,' 'Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine.' One hoax after another."
The former president went on to identify the "real threat" as President Joe Biden and Biden's administration.
"I'm not a threat. I will save democracy. The threat is crooked Joe Biden. That's the threat," Trump said.
Trump continued by scoffing at the notion that the Democrats' new "threat to Democracy hoax" will keep Biden from losing in 2024, as all the polls are predicting that he will.
"[The Democrats and the media] think the threat to democracy will save Biden from having created the worst inflation in our country's history, a fragile economy that may soon end in a depression like 1929 - We are very, very close to a depression, the likes of which you have never seen. We owe $36 trillion and this guy has no clue."
Trump said that the new "hoax" is a "desperate and shameless attempt to distract from the monstrous abuses of power the left is committing before your very eyes."
