Trump’s daily coronavirus updates become must-see TV

Much to the mainstream media’s chagrin, Donald Trump’s daily coronavirus updates are drawing record-breaking crowds.

According to a recent Breitbart report, more than 12 million Americans are tuning in to see Donald Trump’s coronavirus daily press conference on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC alone.

Millions more are watching on other networks, such as ABC, CBS, and NBC, and online streaming sites.

Better than Monday Night Football

At any time during the football season, Monday Night Football dominates the ratings with record numbers. Current Nielsen ratings have Trump’s daily press conferences right on par with those numbers.

Even though some networks are cutting away early or not even covering the press conference, viewers continue to find channels that are.

These skyrocketing ratings accompany several new polls that show that Trump’s approval ratings are also on the upswing. According to a Gallup poll released on Tuesday, Trump holds a 60% approval rating for his coronavirus response and an overall approval rating of 49% — matching his all-time high in late January.

Must-see TV

Not only are these daily pressers informative, but they also generally result in a big conflict between Trump and some members of the media.

If you have listened to even one of them, you already know there is always a journalist in the room that asks Trump a “gotcha” question at some point.

For instance, at one point, a reporter asked the president how many coronavirus-related deaths would be acceptable to him. The media has also tried to pit task force leader Anthony Fauci against Trump using quotes from these daily pressers.

The New York Times even lamented that Trump’s daily communication “has repeatedly delivered information that doctors and public health officials have called ill-informed, misleading, or downright wrong.”

Indeed, the mainstream media is furious because the American people are not listening to their fearmongering and lies in regard to the coronavirus crisis. Some outlets have taken to calling for a media blackout of Trump’s briefings, despite the fact that the events allow Fauci and other public health officials to make important announcements to the nation.

But as Breitbart News editor at large John Nolte recently said of the calls to silence Trump, “It is no accident this insidious and un-American idea arrived the day after a number of polls showed a clear majority of the public approving of Trump’s handling of the Wuhan virus.”
