The president was forced to give up an important international trip in light of the continuing government shutdown.
President Donald Trump announced the cancelation of his scheduled trip to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum, citing the Democrats’ refusal to negotiate on the border wall.
“Because of the Democrats intransigence on Border Security and the great importance of Safety for our Nation, I am respectfully cancelling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. My warmest regards and apologies to the @WEF!” Trump tweeted on Friday.

The forum is scheduled to start on Jan. 22.
Trump has always said that above all else, he will put America first.
It is customary for the president to attend international forums, but Trump has decided the problems at home are far more important.
The media will no doubt criticize Trump for this decision, but he really may not be able to risk leaving the country.
With the way Democrats are these days, they would say they were “finally willing to come to the table, but Trump is not here.”
Regardless, Trump feels this issue needs to be resolved and wants to be here just in case he is able to work out some type of deal with Democrats and get the government working again.
Still Not Negotiating
To this point, Democrats are refusing to budge an inch on the wall.
They keep putting bogus proposals in front of Trump that totally ignore his request for border wall funding.
Grandstanding is all they are doing, quite frankly.
Doing this allows them to say they are “working” on legislation, but Trump is not willing to work with them.
What they won’t tell you is that their proposals, while offering immigration funding, offer absolutely no funding at all for the wall.
Recently, Pelosi and Schumer showed up at the White House with just such a proposal.
According to Pelosi and Schumer, Trump slammed his fist on the table and walked out of the room, refusing to discuss the issue further.
However, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the House Minority Leader, stated the Democrat leaders completely misrepresented what happened.
He further stated their account of the matter was actually quite embarrassing.
Our political world is quickly turning into a sideshow due to partisan politics and Democrats could care less.
As long as they get their headlines and the media continues to buy into their narrative, conservatives are stuck sitting on the sidelines asking one simple question… what about us?
