Former President Donald Trump just called upon all Democratic members of the U.S. Senate to resign.

Trump did so in a message that he posted to his social media site, Truth Social, on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2023.

The former president specifically called upon Senate Democrats to resign given their handling of the situation involving U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ).

There will be more on the Menendez situation later. But, first, we will look at Trump's Truth Social post.

"Resign"

Trump called upon Senate Democrats to resign because, according to Trump, they knew what Menendez was up to and they allowed it to continue.

"Senate Democrats should all resign based on Senator Bob Menendez! They all knew what was going on, and the way he lived," Trump began.

Trump, then, went on to compare the way the U.S. government has treated Democrats to the way the U.S. government has treated himself, highlighting the disparity of treatment.

Trump wrote:

Why doesn’t the FBI raid Senate Democrat’s homes like they illegally raided Mar-a-Lago, where nothing was done wrong based on the Presidential Records Act. Menendez is a “piker” compared to some of those Election Stealing THUGS. Can you imagine how much Crooked Joe Biden has stolen, and what’s in some of his many homes? The FBI and “Justice” notified him that they would be going in to look,“in a few weeks.” In other words, get rid of the cash, gold, & documents, ASAP, before we get there. They didn’t give me any warning, they just showed up. Hunter lived with Crooked Joe in Delaware. It would be a “Treasure Hunt!” Crooked’s coffers must be loaded up with cash. I wonder how much they got paid for Rigging the Election? Menendez is one of many, a small timer at that.

Trump concluded his message by, once again, calling upon "every" Senate Democrat to resign.

Background

The federal government, last week, indictment both Menendez and his wife, Nadine Menendez, for allegedly having violated corruption and bribery laws.

Fox News reports, "According to the indictment, Menendez, who chairs the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and his wife Nadine Menendez are accused of engaging in a corrupt scheme alongside Fred Daibes, a New Jersey real estate developer; Wael Hana, who runs a halal meat certification business in the state; and businessman Jose Uribe."

"The bombshell indictment included sprawling allegations against the senior Democratic senator involving a scheme to aid the Egyptian government, gold bars, money stuffed in envelopes, and illicit halal certifications," the outlet adds.

Menendez, following the news of the indictment, released a statement in which he denied any wrongdoing and professed his innocence.

Menendez, thus far, has only temporarily stepped down from his committee leadership position. But, it appears that, for now, he is going to hold on to his Senate seat.
