Trump beating Harris in New Hampshire by slim lead

 July 27, 2024

With President Joe Biden out of the 2024 presidential race, all eyes are now on Vice President Kamala Harris and how she stacks up against former President Donald Trump.

According to Breitbart, the vice president and Democratic nominee hopeful received some bad news this week in the state of New Hampshire.

A brand new poll revealed that the vice president is trailing Trump in the state, which could be a sign of disappointment to come for Harris and her campaign.

Harris, assuming she's ultimately the Democratic Party's nominee, will need every shred of support she can muster in order to have hopes of giving Trump a run for his money.

The numbers

A new New Hampshire Journal/Praecones Analytica poll revealed that Trump is besting Harris in New Hampshire by a hair.

In a hypothetical matchup, Trump managed to garner 40.2% to Harris’s 39.3%. While Trump's lead is razor-thin, Harris should undoubtedly be ahead of him in the blue-leaning Granite State.

Breitbart noted:

Notably, the gap between Trump and Harris is bigger than the gap between Trump and Biden, as just .3 percent separated the two with Trump seeing 39.7 percent to Biden’s 39.4 percent.

The survey also found Harris holding what NH Journal described as a “slim” edge among undeclared voters, 34.1 percent to Trump’s 33.5 percent — a difference of .6 percent.

In addition to a straight up advantage, the poll revealed that Republican voters in New Hampshire beat their counterparts as far as enthusiasm is concerned.

A staggering 50.2% of New Hampshire Republicans described themselves as "more enthusiastic" about the election compared to only 35% for Democrats. That's another nightmare scenario for Democrats not only in New Hampshire, but around the country.

Social media reacts

The possibility that Trump has at least a shot at winning New Hampshire excited Republican voters, as it would give him unprecedented insurance with regards to losing another critical swing state.

"With New Hampshire Trump doesn’t need a single rust belt state to win," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Kamala is losing in New Hampshire. This is supposed to be the savior of the Democratic Party?"

Only time will tell if the DNC's switch to Harris will pay off. Many believe if she's the nominee, the election for Democrats will go down in flames around the nation.
