Trump advises Dr. Oz to declare victory in senate race

Breitbart News reports that Former President Donald Trump just offered a piece of advice to Dr. Mehmet Oz: “declare victory.”

“Dr. Oz should declare victory,” Trump wrote on his social media site, Truth Social. “It makes it much harder for them to cheat with the ballots that they ‘just happened to find.'”

Trump, here, is alluding to the claims that he has made that fraud occurred during the 2020 presidential election. He is suggesting that the same thing could happen to Oz if he doesn’t take action.

Still undecided

Trump’s message to Oz comes as Pennsylvania’s Republican primary for one of the state’s U.S. Senate seats is still undecided.

Oz, the candidate whom Trump has endorsed in the race, finds himself neck-and-neck with Dave McCormick. According to the New York Times’s election results tracker, Oz and McCormick are separated by just over 1,000 votes with Oz in the lead. Oz’s tally is at 416,783 with McCormick’s at 415,543.

As for why the race isn’t over, it is a similar story to the 2020 presidential election: mail-in ballots. Fox News reports that tens of thousands 0f mail-in ballots still need to be counted in the race.

In addition to this, the outlet reports that there are the usual absentee, provisional, overseas, and military ballots that need to be counted.

It is unclear how long it is going to take to count these remaining votes. But, with the candidates only separated by about 1,000 votes, these remaining votes could have a significant impact on the outcome.

“Confident of victory”

Although Oz is currently leading, McCormick and his team believe that McCormick will come out on top because he has been receiving a greater percentage of the votes that are still being counted. They have put out a message indicating as much.

“Based on how many uncounted absentee ballots there are and the margin by which Dave has won them so far, that’s why we are confident of victory,” McCormick’s team wrote. “Dave will win this race.”

Looking ahead, if the margin of victory is within .5% of the total vote count, an automatic recount will be triggered.

Currently, the margin of victory is easily within that threshold, and so a recount would be expected.
