Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has had a rough couple of weeks, as thousands of truckers, farmers, and supporters of freedom stage protests around the country in opposition to the PM’s strict and ridiculous COVID-19 mandates.
According to The Daily Wire, the situation is now having a profound effect on Trudeau’s future career in politics, with new polls showing that only a very small percentage of Canadian voters would vote to reelect him in the next election, based on the past two weeks of failing to bring the protests to an end.
Not only is Trudeau strongly disliked by Canadians who want their freedom back, but he’s also taking heat from his own supporters for not taking measures to end the “Freedom Convoy” protests.

The numbers
According to the latest survey, conducted by Maru, based on his last two weeks of performance, only a dismal 16% of Canadians would vote for the prime minister in the next election.
Adding fuel to the fire, the survey revealed that 44% of Canadians believe Trudeau’s approach to handling the Freedom Convoy protest — as far as his actions and words — have only served to inflame the situation.
Another 53% said Trudeau “looked weak in the face of threats to the country.”
John Wright, executive vice-president of Maru Public Opinion, pointed out just how incredibly bad — and embarrassing — the latest approval numbers are for the struggling prime minister.
“The last time I’ve seen numbers even close to this were in the final days of Brian Mulroney,” Wright said. “I think this could cost him his job.”
The convoy grows
While thousands of big rigs helped kickstart the massive protest, which has sparked similar protests in a growing number of countries around the world, tens of thousands of supporters have also come out to protest, namely in the country’s capital of Ottawa.

Only time will tell if Trudeau makes the right call and ends the pandemic mandates, which would immediately end the entire situation peacefully. Unfortunately for Canada, Trudeau doesn’t seem to be the type of leader that is open to compromise, and the situation will likely continue to worsen before it gets better.
