Trey Gowdy: ‘The House doesn’t matter anymore’

Trey Gowdy was arguably one of the best conservative congressmen this country has ever seen.

He was also one of the most honest, so people can take it to the bank when someone like Gowdy says: “The House doesn’t matter anymore.”

Made Themselves Irrelevant

The conduct by the House since Democrats took it over in 2018 has been reprehensible. Democrats no sooner got their hands on the gavel when they started to launch probe after probe into Donald Trump.

The calls of contempt fell on deaf ears, with most of their subpoenas simply being ignored.

When they started to hold Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt, it was the defining moment of how this particular Congress crossed the line.

This was a fact not lost on Trey Gowdy, Fox News reports. He stated: “Barr is ostensibly being held in contempt for not turning over documents he has no legal obligation to turn over… In fact, it would be against the law to do so.”

The document Gowdy was referring to was grand jury testimony, something protected by law, even from Congress.

Over the Line

The conduct by Nancy Pelosi this week was also something Gowdy zeroed in on. The fact Pelosi broke House rules, then passed a partisan resolution against Trump seemed to be the breaking point for Gowdy.

He stated: “Nobody cares what Congress does. What we saw yesterday — they can’t even enforce their own House rules against their own members.”

The direction Congress was headed in when Gowdy retired made him sick. Even while he was still in office, he called congressional hearings utterly useless and waste of taxpayer money.

Now, with Dems in control, that situation has become far worse.

While he is right, we can fix this. In 2020, we need to turn out in droves to not only remove Dems from office but to also put the right conservatives in office that can truly make a difference.
