Trey Gowdy delivers bad news to Democrats with sights on South Carolina: This is not their ‘territory’

Democrats are putting a lot of money into South Carolina for the 2020 elections. But according to former congressman Trey Gowdy, it is all for naught.

The former South Carolina representative said point-blank in a recent interview: “This is Tim Scott, Lindsey Graham country. This is NOT Kamala Harris, AOC territory.”

Conservative Stronghold

If Democrats are going to win in 2020, they are going to have to flip a considerable amount of states taken by Trump in 2016.

Apparently, someone in the party has decided that South Carolina has a chance to be one of those states.

They really should have looked at the results of the midterm elections, though, as Republicans were able to hold down every available seat in South Carolina.

Indeed, South Carolina is a conservative stronghold, and the likes of Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have no chance of winning over voters in that state.

Socialism Doesn’t Play Here

There are several reasons why the Palmetto State swings red.

Firstly, South Carolina is a mecca for retirees, who have worked their entire lives to be able to live off the money they put away — not give it away to a bunch of freeloaders.

Selling Medicare For All and other entitlement programs will not win these voters over — and neither will opening up the borders to unlimited immigrants.

If Democrats expect to make up any ground in South Carolina, they are going to have to come up with a different strategy.

Furthermore, Trump has the backing of the powers that be in the state’s Republican party.

Considering the strength of Republicans in the state, Trump will have virtually every elected official in the state working the stoop for him.

But hey, if the Democrats want to pour money into South Carolina, let them do as their little hearts desire.

No doubt it will be akin to using that money to start up a good ole’ southern BBQ.
