Republican presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) is planning on firing both U.S. Attorney Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray if he becomes president of the United States in 2024.
In fact, Scott is planning on doing much more than just firing these two. It appears that he is ready to clean house.
Scott indicated as much in a new interview that he did with Breitbart News.
But, in reality, Scott has been vowing to clean house since at least June.
During his interview with Breitbart, the topic of America's two-tier justice system came up. Scott has consistently spoken out against the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) targeting of former President Donald Trump and of American conservatives.
During the interview, Scott proceeded to lay out his plan to fix America's two-tier justice system.
"Number one, we fire Joe Biden. Hire me," Scott said. "Number two, we fire Merrick Garland. And, number three, we fire Christopher Wray."
Scott explained, "By doing so, we eliminate the rest of the political appointees in the Department of Justice so that the American people could see action. Scott said that this will "recreate a culture based on objectivity, based on fairness, and based on Lady Justice wearing a blindfold."
Scott's plan, however, does not end with the firing of Biden, Garland, and Wray.
Scott went on to talk about "purging" the FBI.
"By doing those three things, we restore competence and integrity, but then, we have to recreate the culture, the bones of FBI," Scott said.
Scott said that, while "the vast majority of those folks want to do their jobs to serve the county," there is a "corrosive and toxic" culture at the FBI, and this is what needs to go. Scott said, "When the culture is so corrosive and so toxic, you have to purge out that culture to restore confidence, even amongst the FBI rank and file."
Scott would not stop with the FBI either. The senator says that he would use a similar strategy with several other agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Federal Reserve, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and more.
There is no doubt that there are many Americans who would agree with this part of Scott's platform. This has become a central part of the Republican platform, in general. And, if a Republican is elected in 2024, that individual is going to be facing much pressure to do what Scott said he would do in this interview.
