We haven’t seen the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) since 2016, when Hillary Clinton launched her presidential campaign and the Clinton Foundation was facing all kinds of unsavory allegations. But, it’s officially back.
Vanguard reports that former U.S. President Bill Clinton recently held a CGI panel discussion in New York, the first event of its kind in six years.
There, Clinton was joined by the likes of Damilola Ogunbiyi, the Chief Executive and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, and Alan Jope, the CEO of Unilever.
According to Vanguard, the panel discussed such things as “investing in sustainable prosperity, connecting the UN, state actors, and the private sector towards accelerating Sustainable Development Goal 7 – affordable and sustainable energy for all.”
As stated at the outset, CGI shut down at the time when Hillary Clinton launched her 2016 presidential campaign. The year before that, though, donations to the Clinton Foundation had significantly decreased.
Breitbart reports that this happened as Hillary Clinton faced allegations that she “used the charity to solicit millions of dollars in donations from foreign governments and corporations in exchange for giving these entities favorable treatment while she served as Secretary of State.”
Apparently now, though, enough time has passed since those allegations that the Clintons, with the support of many big named leftists, are ready to get CGI back up and running.
Bill Clinton, reportedly, had been itching to do so for some time. And, it is now happening.
CGI is part of the Clinton Foundation. According to Clinton’s website, “CGI brings together established and emerging global leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.”
The website continues, “CGI works with partners to develop Commitments to Action – new, specific, and measurable actions in climate resilience, health equity, and inclusive economic recovery and growth.”
This, at least, is how the Clintons are selling the relaunch of the CGI.
It remains to be seen, though, whether CGI and the Clintons will be able to escape those past allegations. The leftist powers that be are certainly pushing to make it happen.
