Texas House Dem on Harris’ border performance: She’s ‘not very interested’ in helping

You know you’re doing a really bad job when members of your own political party publicly call you out. Just ask Vice President Kamala Harris, who recently experienced such criticism.

According to Breitbart, Harris was called out for her poor performance on handling the immigration crisis by Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, who held nothing back as he observed that Harris “doesn’t look like she’s very interested” in fixing what is undoubtedly one of the top crises facing the nation.

Cuellar issued his criticism in an interview with The New York Times, revealing that Harris’ office has all but ignored his requests for federal assistance in the Texas border district that he represents.

What did he say?

The Times’ interview with Cuellar was eye-opening, and proves just how uninterested Harris is as far as making headway on the one major task handed to her by President Joe Biden.

“When Mr. Cuellar heard Ms. Harris was traveling to the border in June, he had his staff call her office to offer help and advice for her visit. He never received a call back,” the report revealed.

It added: “I say this very respectfully to her: I moved on,” Rep. Cuellar said. “She was tasked with that job, it doesn’t look like she’s very interested in this, so we are going to move on to other folks that work on this issue.”

The report then revealed that Cuellar has decided to go straight to the president for help, as Harris genuinely appears absent on the issue, even though she was tasked early on in the administration with tackling the immigration crisis.

Because of her ineptitude, by the end of 2021, some two million illegal immigrants will have crossed the border under Harris’ watch, with no real end of the influx in sight.

Cuellar’s history

While most Democrats — even the ones in border states — are still hesitant to criticize the Biden administration’s failures on the border security issue, Cuellar has been an extremely vocal proponent for his constituents, putting politics aside and trying to make the case that the crisis is very real, and very dangerous.

According to Fox News, Cuellar had previously asked the Biden administration to listen to the ground truth from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents on the ground who have to deal with the crisis on a daily basis, instead of listening to other politicians.

He’s also called on Harris to be replaced as the administration’s “border czar.”

Only time will tell if the president decides to ever actually do something about the immigration crisis but, sadly, it probably won’t be fixed until we reelect a Republican president in 2024.
